Archery can be dangerous, we have a Health and Safety Notice in place to minimise these risks.

1. WE RECOMMEND TWO ARCHERS SHOULD BE PRESENT TO SHOOT.
However provided there is a warning notice displayed at all points of access, solo shooting by senior archers is permitted. Any member shooting on their own is doing so at their own risk in respect of personal injuries. (See archery GB rules for shooting)
2. JUNIOR ARCHERS MUST BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT MEMBER OF ARCHERY GB AND A SECOND ADULT.
However provided there is a warning notice displayed at all points of access AND provided that they are an adult member of Archery GB, one parent/guardian alone may supervise their own child(ren). (See archery GB rules for shooting)
3. BEWARE OF MOVING EQUIPMENT. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE BOSSES ON YOUR OWN. GLOVES TO BE USED WHEN PUTTING TARGET STANDS OUT.
4. ARCHERS TO DRESS APPROPRIATELY.
Dangling items are a danger, wear non-slip footwear and clothes appropriate to the conditions.
5. REPORT DAMAGED OR UNUSABLE EQUIPMENT TO COMMITTEE MEMBERS
6. CAR PARKING WARNING:
No cars are to be parked riverside of the club house and please take care when reversing that there is no equipment or any spectators/members in the way.
7. PRIOR TO SETTING UP BOWS AND SHOOTING THE FOLLOWING SHOULD BE UNDERTAKEN:
1. LISTEN FOR THE FIELD CAPTAIN’S INSTRUCTIONS
2. Arrows to be loaded only in forward facing position towards targets.
3. Do not cross the shooting line or enter the field shooting area.
4. During Beginner’s Sessions there is a greater risk resulting from being struck by arrows. All members to be extra vigilant and use the STOP command if any risk is identified.
IF ANY BODY SEES A PERSON OR ANIMAL ENTER THE AREA, LIKELY TO BE IN DANGER, THEN THEY SHOULD SHOUT ‘STOP’.
ALL ARCHERS MUST STOP AND PUT THEIR ARROWS AWAY, UNTIL THE RANGE CAPTAIN GIVES THE ALL CLEAR.
IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY PHONE ‘999’, ATTEND TO SITUATION AS BEST AS YOU CAN AND SEND A PERSON IN A VEHICLE TO OPEN MAIN ENTRANCE GATE AND DIRECT EMERGENCY SERVICES.
FIRE EVACUATION INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD BE READ AT EACH LOCATION AND COMPLIED WITH.
FIRST AID BOX IS LOCATED IN THE CONTAINER.
