Newnham Archery Club was well represented at the Deer Park Archers One Day WA3D competition. This was the last 3D tournament of the year for us, so we were all keen to finish strong!
It was a well-laid and challenging 24 target course with a mix of ups, downs, woodland and open fields. It was bright and sunny, but made tricky by gusting and swirling winds, especially interesting on the two ‘tower shots’ where you feel especially exposed!
Shooting groups were great with the usual supportive and encouraging camaraderie from other archers. It was great to see so many of the GB 3D and Field squads in attendance, fresh back from the World Championships in Yankton, USA.
Bling was achieved! Ade won Silver in the Open Recurve category and Silver in county. Susan won Bronze in county in Ladies Barebow, so coming home 2nd and 3rd in county is a nice way to finish the competition season! Olly shot strongly in only his second competition this year, in an extremely competitive Open Barebow field.
We came home happy, all feeling that we have made positive progress across the year and we still have the Deer Park Archers Winter Field League to look forward to, so some cold, rainy and happy days with bow-in-hand yet to come!
